Door Locks
The RV-10 needs 3 door locks plus optionally an ignition switch. Note that there are reports of failing lock cylinders; getting a fourth cylinder as a backup may be a good idea so that you can replace it one day in the future.
Suitable options:
- A-510-2K without starter position (if you have a separate Start button)
A-510-2K with starter position
however the set includes only two door locks. To obtain a proper complete RV-10 set, you have to contact sales at https://www.aircraftspruce.com/contactus.php and ask for a custom kit with 3 locks. The supplier will then gather a set from what he has in stock. If you already bought a set with two locks, you can only get a third lock in a separate order if the supplier happens to have a third lock with the same key number in stock. They don't custom make a lock for your key number on demand. They only get new shipments many months apart. As of early 2025 Aircraft Spruce says they can not match lock cylinders outside of the two-packs, in which case it would be practically impossible to get a set of three cylinders with the same key. - See also this FB Thread for hints.
- Northeastlock.com model C622S
custom order those locks with same key - You can also order these locks and keys from MrLock.com
- For the Aerosport low-profile door handles, two of these: ESP ULR-875STD KA ES102 Cam Lock 7/8", Keyed Alike ES102 (not sure if they will work with the standard door handles or not)
- For the cargo door, one of these: ESP ULR-625STD KA ES102 5/8" Cam Lock, Keyed Alike ES102
Note for the MrLock (and possibly other alternative locks) you may need to modify the Aerosport low-profile exterior door handle installation process a bit. In the instructions, it says to drill out all of the fiberglass so that the lock sits flush against the aluminum insert inside the door. If your lock is shallower than the Aircraft Spruce lock, this will leave a gap between the lock face and the outside finishing piece for the handle. You will need to add a spacer or simply don't remove all of the fiberglass. This means you have to install the lock after you have fully installed the inside mechanism. A photo is below.
