  • Protocol
    • If you order part # 8108 via Aircraft Spruce (small remote unit), the protocol is programmed to 9,600 Bd and Aviation Protocol. The box provides no hint on how it is programmed. The G3X Touch display unit can provide the correct data, just select Aviation Protocol, e.g. COM3, pin 13 for data, pin 35 for ground.
  • Self Test
    • The manual says to toggle the switch to test until the LED turns on, however, the LED only turns on after one second at the Artex unit itself, if you activate the test at the remote unit, the LED there will not turn on after one second, rather it only turns on later for the error status.
    • The manual says it is an internal self test, however it does transmit externally for some 2 seconds (at least on 121.5), so the test needs to be done during the first 5 minutes after the hour, or you need to terminate the antenna output with a 5W dummy 50 Ohm resistor to prevent radiation.
