Flap Position Sensor
Hints
- Vans has upgraded the flap motor mid 2022 to a model that has an analog voltage output compatible with modern avionics. A position sensor is not needed.
- Ray Allen makes the "POS-12" flap position sensor which is needed for the older flap motors. Available at e.g. Stein Air or Vans. It interfaces to either the VPX, the Garmin GAD-27 or Dynon electronics.
- Installation of the POS-12 is discussed in this: FB Post
- check out RV-10 builder logs and check out the POS12 installation instructions for the RV-14, for example section 54 in this N398WM build log. The RV-14 uses a standard 63 mil 1 foot stainless steel rod to make the link.
- Vans sells a flap position sensor kit, however it is not sensing the continuous flap deployment angle, rather it is a set of switches that close at specific positions. This sensor is not compatible with modern avionics which need an analog voltage input. Not a recommended solution.
