The old style flap motor (without position sensor) has originally a Motion Systems motor, later ones have a Ametek/Pittman motor. The Motion Systems motor can press grease all the way up to the brushes and may need a one time cleaning and removal of excess grease in the gearbox. The Pittman motor has a long service live but may burn out eventually. One can purchase a replacement motor or change to the new style actuator with internal position sensor. The replacement motor doesn't come with the worm gear, it needs to be transferred from the broken motor, or one can transfer the brush assembly to the old motor.

Flap Motor Issues

The old style flap motor (without position sensor) has originally a Motion Systems motor, later ones have a Ametek/Pittman motor. The Motion Systems motor can press grease all the way up to the brushes and may need a one time cleaning and removal of excess grease in the gearbox. The Pittman motor has a long service live but may burn out eventually. One can purchase a replacement motor or change to the new style actuator with internal position sensor. The replacement motor doesn't come with the worm gear, so only good as a donor for a new brush assembly.
